It has been several decades since we started handling Javanese glass beads, and it seems that the color tone of glass has become more and more uniform in recent years. Production in traditional subtle tones becomes difficult and tends to reduce the variety of tones that can be selected. As for the color tone, it is exactly "Only once in the life". Recreating accurate tones is almost hopeless.
Recently, there was information that "there are a lot of old Javanese glass beads", and fortunately we could bought them. "Old" is not a so-called antique, it was left at the bead shop owner's house, which was closed due to soaring rents in Java and Bali, produced 10 to 20 years ago.
Glass beads made by lampwork are often soiled with the release agent that remains in the holes even if they are new after production. These glass beads are so dusty because of the release agent and long-standing dust.
Many of the colors have a subtle beauty that can no longer be reproduced.
We soak them in water overnight and hang them to remove dirt in with a high-pressure shower and dry them . The total number of beads is about 4,600 strings and the weight is about 200 kg. Since it is a large amount, it will take some time to post online.
